The Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays will be unveiling some tweaks to their logos and uniforms next season. Both teams, instead of making dramatic changes, like the Florida (er, Miami) Marlins, the Orioles and Jays will be sporting older looks for the 2012 season.
The Orioles will be bringing back the “cartoon” version of the Oriole that was seen on the team’s caps during the franchise’s glory days, according to Yahoo Sports. The huge Oriole logo will be replaces with just the head of a smiling Oriole.
Yahoo Sports reports that the “cartoon” version of the bird hasn’t appeared on Orioles caps in 24 years.
The Blue Jays are also returning to an older look that was prominent during their glory days as well. "Updating our original logo, the strong affinity to go back to 'Blue' and returning the red Maple Leaf to the primary mark recognizes the classic look of which we feel baseball logos and uniforms should consist," Blue Jays president Paul Beeston said in a statement to MLB.com.
